"Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it." ~ Yves Saint Laurent

ahhhh, the sweet smell of a new season.  no, not the smell of bonfires on a cold night, or even an apple pie being made for thanksgiving dinner.  i am talking about the smell of sak's (or neiman's, or bendel's, or barney's...) when the summer turns to fall and the designers have debuted their cold-weather offerings.  its like christmas morning, your birthday and the 4th of july were combined into one sensory experience invented to make you feel good, and make your wallet feel considerably lighter.

if given the choice between eating and a new fendi handbag, i would feed my dog what's left of the food in my apartment and happily go to sak's and get the bag. after all, nothing makes a new bag look better than a woman carrying it who just lost 5 pounds.  unfortunately for me, i can't buy everything i want.  my apartment is simply too small.  its not fair to the clothes.

some people have visions of sugar plums dancing in their head, but i dream of strappy louboutin's or platform, peep-toe, sling-back manolo's.   i spend an inordinate amount of time researching new fashions on the websites of women's wear daily, bloomingdale's and especially neiman marcus.  it's better than therapy, albeit way more expensive.  so my offering to you this fine, fine day is a small collection of the items i am coveting this fall fashion season.  enjoy!

Escada's Leather Embroidered Tote
$1,843 (neimanmarcus.com)
i don't just want this tote, i need it to complete my life!  if one, singular item could describe my existence as a whole, it would be this bag.

Christian Louboutin's Very Prive Peep-Toe Pumps
$995 (saksfifthavenue.com)
these shoes are fierce.  imagine them with a great pair of dark jeans, black tee, trench and oversized sunglasses (just like the pair below...)

Fendi's Oversized Sunglasses with Woven Temples
$325  (nordstrom.com)
these sunglasses aren't new for fall, but i have been drooling over them for months.  i desperately need them, but i am waiting for them to (hopefully) go on sale.  for my sanity, please cross your fingers.

Left:  Nanette Lepore's Helen of Troy Dress  $350
Right:  Nanatte Lepore's  Cleopatra Color Block Dress  $395
(both from neimanmarcus.com)
you can never really have too many little black dresses, only a shortage of places to wear them.  i feel like i should have a cocktail party so i have an excuse to buy these.

Miu Miu's Croc-Embossed Cage Platform
$640  (neimanmarcus.com)
i don't care how cold the weather may become, i would wear these shoes.  the sheer beauty of them would warm my heart and soles.  (yes, i just wrote that.  cheesy, but true.)

Chloe's Heloise Large Tote
$1670  (www.neimanmarcus.com)
This is a great everyday tote.  it goes with everything, it's roomy and is so chic.

Tiffany's Fancy Deep Pink Diamond Ring
$770,000  (tiffany.com)
so beautiful, it brings a tear to my perfectly mascara-ed eye.  a girl can dream, can't she?
